Lap of the Mask

Every year the club hosts the Lap of the Mask (around Lough Mask) the pictureque route attracts hundreds to the area and is fast becoming one of the most popular leisure events West of the Shannon, and each year has attracted many newcomers. This is a fun event that is suitable for all levels of cycling ability, where participants complete a circuit of Lough Mask at their own pace, while enjoying the natural beauty of the area. So if you need something to motivate you to get fit, why not sign up and come along on the day.

The route for the Lap of the Mask is a 64km circuit of the lake, which is well within the capabilities of anyone who is of reasonable fitness. Cyclists will start out at Ballinrobe, cycle to Partry where they will head for Tourmakeady along the north shore of the Lough. There is a food stop after Tourmakeady. The second half of the route will take cyclists to Finny and into Clonbur, before heading back into Ballinrobe. For anyone who would like to “go the extra mile”, they can take in an extra loop at Finny, which brings the event distance up over 70km.

The routes will be fully marked and marshalled, with support vehicles patrolling the route during the event. Refreshments will be available at halfway and again at the finish. Sign-on/registration will be at Western Lakes Cycling Centre, Kilmaine Road, Ballinrobe from 10am. The event starts at 11am.First Food stop after 28k in Tourmakeady. BBQ served in Flannery's between 3.30 - 5pm.

In the meantime take the bike out of the garage and get it, and your legs, into action! On the day, make sure your bike is in good working order, get a helmet, puncture repair kit, a pump, and join us for a fun day around the beautiful Lough Mask!

Entry Fee:
25euro online advance booking http://www.runireland.com/events/lap-mask-leisure-cycle or 30euro on the day. If you sign up online for the Polkadot Challange and the Lap of the Mask  at the same time before 4th May, you pay the reduced combined rate of 50euro for the two events!
