Ballinrobe 3 Day May Bank holiday weekend

Ballinrobe 3 day stage race

The Connacht racing calendar is in line for a shakeup with Western Lakes CC moving their multi stage race from August to May.  WLCC have decided to implement changes to its flagship race in order to freshen it up. This race has been run for the last 9 years with 2 road stages sandwiched by a short time trail held over two days however this year the race will be run over  3 days on the May bank holiday weekend and will comprise of 3 road stages with no time Trial.

Stage 1 Ballinrobe 3 day

The hard roads of Mayo and Galway will provide the setting for 3 difficult stages of racing with the organizers planning on running a flat stage to open up the racing following up with a mid climbing stage while finishing on a very hilly course which will test the legs of any RAS hopefuls.

Stage 2 Ballinrobe 3 day

The quite windswept roads of the West of Ireland will make for great open racing and it will take a strong all rounder to win.

Stage 3

With a large gap between Ras Mumhan and the Ras Tailteann the organizers are expecting a large uptake of riders hoping to fine-tune their preparations on this testing weekend of racing.

Previous winners of stages of the Ballinrobe 2day have included some very well know riders such as formers pro’s David O’Loughlin and Morgan Fox while on the current amateur scene Colm Cassidy has proven to be near invincible on the old 2 day course , winning overall on 3 separate occasions but with no TT and all road stages in excess of 120k this 3 day is a lot harder challenge than its predecessor
