Its been a busy few weeks for WLCC with the fine weather finally here.

Leisure Report

The Tuesday evening spins for beginners and improvers is going great for the last few weeks. The group ethos is that no one gets dropped, and this is working very well with great reports from all involved.

The skills course for kids was held last week in the national school ground, it is a great way top develop kids in bike handling skills and for future members of WLCC. Many thanks to Gerry Butler and Joe Marrey for there work. This will take place on Sundays 12.30 at St Joseph's National School.

Kids Skills Training

Racing Report

After the great 3 day event in Ballinrobe, we get back to more local events. The Connaught TT was held on Tuesday night with Sean O Malley posting the fastest time and a new PB over the course. He piped Chris Troy in to second. That Mavic Disc wheel must have done wonders. He will be going on till he buys that bike.

The First Round of the Western Covey league was held on Wednesday 11th of May on the Shra course. It was a lovely evening and a great crowd of about 45 turned up with a great mix of cycling abilities from ex-An Post Ras men to newbies to the race scene. There was 5 groups on the road and group 2 and 3 came together to contest the final sprint with the 4th and scratch group close behind. It was great win for John Joe Holorian for WLCC closely followed by Covey CC members. Full race report can be read in Facebook with great pics of the event. Next round will be June 1st at the same venue so please turn out for a good event.

Special Thanks to all who helped and Marshalled on the night as it can't be done without the helpers. Noel Gibbons will have sambos at the house the next day.

On the International scene it has been a great week for the Irish Para-Olympic cyclist  Jerry Towey, who took part in the Para-Cycling world cup event in South Africa last week. Jerry Towey took the bronze in the time trial which is a great result for Jerry, it pays off for all his hard work over the winter competing in the local duathlons and TT events. His race can be seen on Facebook.. Congrats Jerry from all in WLCC.
