Stage 1 of the Bogman 2 day Tullycross Connemara started off in bright but windy conditions.
The 47 riders were split into 2 groups over 3 laps of 29k, the Juniors and A3 riders getting 2 minutes head start on the strong A1& A2 bunch. Camien Muldoon NRPT and Eoin O Connell Blarney liven up affairs when they spent over half the race out front holding no more than 50 seconds at anyone point. Blarney CC O Connell won the only KOH sprint at Letterfrack and leads the Mountains jersey.
The eventual Break away only got away with 13k to go. Camien Muldoon NRPT and Eoin o Connell Blarney we’re caught with 15k to go with O Connell jumping Muldoon and going clear again to be caught first by Eoghan Clifford and then by Robin Kelly Waterford and later Mark Reilly Lucan joining up with about 11k to go. This quartet worked well together and at one point had 40seconds lead, by the line that was much reduced with Robin Kelly Waterford winning the sprint to the line from Mark O Reilly Lucan.
