Great Western Lakes Sportive June 14th

Take in the byways and scenery of South Mayo and Galway's Joyce country for a leisure cycle that been organised by Western Lakes CC in conjunction with Ballinrobe Smarter travel, below we have unveiled 2 spectacular routes for this June Sportive.

Both routes start in Ballinrobe on Sunday June 14th, in the first few Kms the route splits  Lough Mask which in on the left and Lough Carra on the right before passing through the lovely village of Tourmakeady (The home of Miley from Glenroe) hugging the shores of Lough Mask the route then explores the beautiful Partry and Maamturk mountains passing along the shores of Lough Na Fooey before hitting the high point at Ail Duil, dipping down to the village of Leanne and along Killary Fjord, the Twelve pins loom overhead along the Innagh valley with more small Connemara lakes in view. At Maam Cross we head back towards Ballinrobe for the way home with beautiful panoramic views of Lough Corrib seen from up high before dipping down to hug the shore line on the way through history ridden Joyce country with Galway villages Cornamona and  Clonbur to navigate on the final leg home.

In Total our Sportive routes pass along the shores of 5 lakes, crest 3 mountain ranges and passes through unspoiled countryside that very few outsiders know about.
