Ladies End of Season cycle Spin
Lady cyclists before you hang up your wheels over Winter months, the Ladies of Western Lakes Cycling Club based in Ballinrobe would like to invite you to join them on their End of Season Spin, this coming Saturday the 20th of October.
This is an opportunity to meet like minded cyclists, share experiences, in a non -competitive environment we all have a cycling tale to tell!
Within our club we are fortunate to have a twice winner of Gale Force West, who has openly shared her vast knowledge and experience with us so it will be a chance to glean some hints, tips and ask questions as the kilometres slip by.
There are two spins planned for the day, both leaving Ballinrobe at 9.30am and partly share the same route.
Long Route Fly Route in 3D and View Elevation
The ‘Long Spin’ is aproximately 80km and skims the sourthern shore of Lough Mask on it's way into Joyce Country and the Partry mountains, the spectactular Lough na fooey lies at the base of the Ail Dubh our first of two climbs. Ail Dubh featured in this year's RAS, although from the opposite direction! Take your time at the summit to appreciate the view and catch your breath before descending into the Maam Valley that lies in the shadow of the Maumturks. Our second climb appears, Maumeen, short and sharp, before one reaches the village of Cor na Mona, that touches the shore of County Galway's largest lake Lough Corrib. The long route then meets up with the short route to journey back to Ballinrobe.
Short Route Fly Route in 3D and View Elevation
The Short spin is in the region of 50km, and shares part of the long route but veers south climbing Ben Levy or more locally known as 'Mount Gable' or 'Cloach Breac', the route then descends into the village of Cor na Mona to link back up once again with the Long Route to experience the panoramic views of Lough Corrib.
There will be back up, a water and snack stop and some interesting marshalls on route!
The cost including lunch is 20euro on line with Run Ireland before 17th of October and 25euro on the day.
Sign on from 8.30 til 9.30am at the Cycling Centre on the Kilmaine Rd, Ballinrobe.
